Wiccan thoughts on the after-life, PART ONE
Just as when we are born, death is not only inevitable, but a necessary and completely natural process of being human. Most of us spend our entire lives both fearing and running from our death, trying to prevent it, scared of it, rarely thinking about it, rarely talking about it, and terrified of the day that it will actually happen. Most of us have lost someone dear to us by this point in our lives so we understand grieving for another person, but why don't we learn to grieve our own death by facing our mortality once and for all and THEN being ok with the idea so we no longer have to worry about it? I am not talking about throwing caution to the wind... or am I? I AM talking about taking positive risks that will bring you happiness in exchange for temporarily uncomfortable feelings, but I am not talking about riding 80 on a motorcycle without a helmet on the freeway... And I think it would be fair to admit that most of us aren't necessarily afraid of death, but of the ugly, painful torture that leads up to it, but I believe that we associate that very PAIN WITH death, and that we have it ALL wrong. The pain is a reminder of our physical world, but death should be a reminder of a PAINLESS world, filled with love and beauty!
I have done a lot of research, meditation, and communicating on this subject with fellow death gurus and my spirit guides ;) who believe and KNOW that death is as an amazing and wonderful experience as is birth...! Death is an untapped idea and certainly taboo to discuss openly and without feelings of dread and fear. I often personally walk by cemeteries and I say to the headstones, "you guys are so brave, you all made it through your death and that takes courage," just as much courage as it took to live life, of course, and we all know how much courage THAT takes! So, I think to myself, if we are ALL supposed to die, it must be for good reason, and it must not be scary, in fact it must be incredible because we all have to go through it, and since I only know A beautiful and loving goddess who doesn't wish to torture me or anyone in anyway, then death must come from a place of love and or of our own choice! Yes, I believe we all have chosen to die just as we chose to be birthed in this life, and for all of us it is a temporary stay on this earth. And the sooner we deeply think about why we're here and how we won't be here one day and how that is absolutely OK and completely natural, the more we can just live and let live and not let the fear of death ruin the gift of life. I recently heard a wonderful comparison regarding death and the afterlife, and it was a comforting idea... firstly, think about how life on earth and being a human is difficult, and stressful, and unpredictable, and tiring. This is a short lifetime for all of us whether we are here for three years, 30, or some of us for 90, either way, even of we MAKE it to 90, 90 years is STILL only one second to the universe.... our true home is the afterlife, not this life. If this life is just a short amount of time, a finite amount of years, and this CANNOT be our permanent home. I believe that we come to this earth to flex our spiritual muscles and to evolve, much like when we go to the gym as humans. When we work out for two hours and we are exhausted and tired afterwards, and we just want to sleep and eat after our workout and we can't wait to get home after the gym... well it's the same with the afterlife. This life, however many years we have here, is like going to the gym, working out, the stress, the feelings and emotions, living life as a human is one long trip to the gym. And when it's all over we get to go home and rest and sleep and be reunited with friends and do fun things -- and that my friends, is heaven!!! HOME! Death is nothing to be feared. Death is a wonderful transition back to spirit from body, back to the ease of everything that is just one thought away - worlds, activities, connections, all just a split second thought from manifestation. Here on earth, not so much, thoughts must be turned into physical action which takes more time, it's a slower vibration... When you get those little feelings and glimpses of happiness in your life, those moments of ecstatic and complete joy and happiness, when you are carefree with no worries or stressors, that is YOU tapping into just a small ounce of the joy and bliss that awaits you on the other side. Everyone you've ever known, living or dead, celebrities or friends and family, all those connections are accessible in the afterlife, everyone knows everyone, everyone loves everyone. Sounds WAY better and way easier than an earth life! It doesn't get more amazing and beautiful than that so why not look forward to such a moment? There is so much more to this life and the next that meets the eye, just look around at the beauty here on earth in this life, and what man is capable of creating and building. Now if this is what we're capable of doing in the physical world, on a slow vibration and a MUCH lower ethereal level of ascension, imagine what we can do when we are free of the body and back home with source and spirit in a giant endless, intelligent universe where there is so much more to do and explore! Recently my father who has been a self proclaimed Atheist all of his life is getting to the end of his... he refuses to talk about LIFE or DEATH because he says he finds either idea depressing and just reminds him of the end, and yet he refuses to believe it's NOT the end, and it's taking away all enjoyment he could be having on a daily basis, obsessing about being older and closer to "graduation day" (as I call it.) This is why it is important to start thinking about this NOW, making peace with it, and not letting it ruin your happy days left on earth, no matter how many there may be! the goddess wants you to be happy, and fulfilling your purpose, not worrying about a most natural occurrence that hundreds of billions and billions have done before you... they died. Rest assured, only their bodies did however. I know I'm looking forward to going home, but are you? Stay tuned for part two!
