The POWER of the pentacle!

Hello my fellow Wiccan's! Today we need to talk about the our friend, the PENTACLE... The Pentacle or Pentagram, is more than just the symbol of Witchcraft and Wicca. Its concept and meaning span over several cultures and it is over 8,000 years old! It is a symbol that represents the bringing of the spirit to the earth, manifestation through the five points of the star via the 5 elements, (earth, air, spirit, water, fire). Over the years, the 5 points have come to encompass several meanings, for example in Christian times, the points meant the five wounds of Christ, whereas the Celts believed that the Pentacle represented “Ireland’s five great roads, five provinces and five paths of the law.” In Tarot decks, the Pentacles are part of the 4 suits, representing money, material things, and work. Today, for modern Wiccan's, the pentacle symbolizes unity and wholeness, the quest for divine knowledge, truth, and balancing  the elements for a balanced and fruitful life. The pentacle is also used to mark off magical enclosures or ritual areas. Of course the symbol is also used to decorate tools and jewelry, and the pentacle is often worn for protection and to evoke daily magickal blessings. There is nothing to be feared when honoring our divine symbol. Satanic worshipers have often given the pentacle a bad rap, (which is an inverted pentacle with the top star point facing down) but we need not to associate this beautiful symbol for such a negative connotation.

How ever you wish to define the power of your pentacle and how you wish to wear it, should come from you and your beliefs about what it represents to you. That age old saying that goes "you are what you believe" rings true with everything, not just your beliefs regarding jewelry and symbols. Just as a Christian has complete faith and comfort and wearing their cross around their neck, I have the same feeling and comfort when I'm wearing my pentacles. Whether in my ear is an earring, or on a bracelet, I even have a few tattoos of pentacles in my skin, it is my own reminder of being true to myself, a symbol of protection, luck, belief, peace and love, calm, and my faith. It's important to utilize simple things such as symbols to keep you grounded and balanced. Some people may use the peace sign to achieve this feeling, others a heart symbol. The wonderful thing about symbols are that they are deeply personal. And the pentacle for we Wiccan's is no different, and should be heralded with high regard and in love and light.

Wear it loudly and proudly and when asked, I am happy to explain my wonderful spiritual path to others and set the record straight! We are not devil worshipers, we are bringers of light, I am happy to use my jewelry or tattoos as healthy conversation starters that can clear up misunderstandings about our symbols and our way of life! :)

Invoking or evoking? What is the difference?

Over the years I have had many questions about what invoking vs. evoking consists of. Many believe that they are one in the same, when in actuality, evoke and invoke are VERBS of different meanings. Both can be useful during ritual, and here is why we need to know the difference when it comes to using either action... Why a MAGICAL mind is also a MANIFESTING one.. PART TWO!

In the last blog, we were talking in depth about how thoughts create action, and how important thoughts are in the mysterious process of imagination... We were discussing why it is important to re-train thoughts from negative ones to positive ones.
